New on the Audio Page for today:

Tommy Kinsella talked about racing again this year at Fulton Speedway and how he did last year.
Shawn Donath has a new deal for himself this year and talked about his new #53 Sprint Car.
Alysha Ruggles spoke about her move up to a 305 Sprint Car and remembered a late season win.
Bret Belden is coming off a tough season at Utica Rome and told me about his hopes for 2013.
Mike Welch won the Street Stock championship at Canandaigua and talked about getting back out.

It was a cold and rainy day on Tuesday and I played catch up with some non-racing things here at the home studio. And we are also working on a fix on the site and hope to have that figured out soon.

On the site today we have five chats from the weekend and they are all real good ones. This is such a great time of the year as most teams are optimistic and feeling good about their chances.

Many teams will head south this weekend to Selinsgrove for the start of the ROC Tour. While others are either getting ready for a car show or hunting down the last few parts they need to finish up their cars.

Oh and we also added more pictures on Tuesday. We put them up at midnight so some of you may have missed them.

Now let’s chat more about what is new for today on the Audio Page. I begin with a story from last year that looks to be continued this year. Tommy Kinsella talked about racing again this year at Fulton Speedway and how he did last year. He told me how nice it was to get into a car that has already been raced, how much has changed with the cars and how nice they handle.

Shawn Donath has a new deal for himself this year and talked about his new #53 Sprint Car. He told me why the number is changed this time around, described what it was like to start a team from scratch and when he will get the car dirty for the first time.

Alysha Ruggles spoke about her move up to a 305 Sprint Car and remembered a late season win. She talked about watching her win on TV, what surprised her when she saw it and looks forward to getting on the track at Canandaigua.

Bret Belden is coming off a tough season at Utica Rome and told me about his hopes for 2013. He told me about the new chassis he is working on, what he hopes it does compared to what he had last year and how tough it was to get a good feel for it.

Mike Welch won the Street Stock championship at Canandaigua and talked about getting back out. He told me how close his car was to being race ready, looked ahead to a big show to start the season and how itchy he is to get going.

Vinnie Vitale showed off his Modified at Motorsports Expo and talked about his Sprint Car ride.
Chris Hile had a brand new car at the show and talked about a change they made in the suspension.
Frank Burnell recapped his season in a Sportsman at Canandaigua and the ups and downs he had.

Tana Robinson previews the coming season at the Ransomville Speedway and some improvements.

Things are starting to get busy as we continue to digest all the information that came out this past weekend at Motorsports Expo 2013. I’m still sifting through a lot of it and wrote a column with some of the highlights for today’s Syracuse Post Standard. I also included some other news that people may have missed. Check it out today or read it online at www.syracuse.com/motorsports

I have four interviews from the show up as well as one I did last Thursday to help promote Rotterdam Square this coming weekend. The Fonda Speedway has one of the best mall shows around and I highly encourage you to meet me out there on Saturday to see some beautiful racecars and talk racing.

Also taking place this weekend will be the first two races of the ROC on Dirt Modified Series. Selinsgrove Speedway will host 358’s on Friday and big blocks on Saturday. Jeremiah Fish will be our eyes and ears for the event so look for him this weekend while I walk the mall. Thanks buddy, glad to have you on board again.

Plus later today I have another photo bin to put up. I just wanted to make sure you guys saw all the Motorsports Expo stuff before I put another one up. Check back this afternoon for that.

Now let’s chat more about what is new today on the Audio Page. I begin with a driver who is looking forward to a new challenge this season. Vinnie Vitale showed off his Modified at Motorsports Expo and talked about his Sprint Car ride. He told me how well things went last year at Canandaigua and how he feels about the new challenge driving Jason Barney’s second car.

Chris Hile had a brand new car at the show and talked about a change they made to the suspension. He explained why he went with the “split rack”, wondered how long it might take to adjust and commented on a rookie driver in the division that he knows well.

Frank Burnell recapped his season in a Sportsman at Canandaigua and the ups and downs he had. He talked about some of the nice nights he enjoyed, the upgraded car he switched to and what he learned from when he evaluated his performance.

Pete Broderson earned a championship at Fonda and talked about this weekend’s mall show in Rotterdam. He told me how nice it will be to have the car on Champion’s Row, why he is scaling back a little this year and what he learned about bodies while at Syracuse last year.

Tana Robinson previews the coming season at the Ransomville Speedway and some improvements. She explained how one project created the need for another, ran down some of the special dates on the schedule and how happy she is to see the Sportsman division growing.

Motorsports Expo 2013 is now history and with its passing, things will start to get busy in a hurry. I spent the final hours at the show on Sunday and did take a lot of pictures as I promised and I also put up some from John Meloling and George Steigerwalt Jr. who were also at the show this weekend.

I had a great time all weekend long as I caught up with old friends and met some new ones. I even met an old neighbor who works for one of the car owners. Wow, what a surprise!

And I also saved an addition 23 interviews from the weekend and those will show up this week as well as some studio chats. As a matter of fact, I already have one saved that I did last Friday. So yes, it will be a busy week here on Doug’s Dirt Diary.

Of course we’ll be back today for the finale and maybe if I get lucky I’ll get that whiff of racefuel that I have yet to smell this year. We encourage you to come out as well as we did take some pictures yesterday but not as many as in the past as we want you guys to show and see them for yourself.

But if you can’t make it, I will have more up tonight and tomorrow as I am going to take more than a few today. And we’ll also be looking to chat with more drivers and race track people to get you the information you need to be ready for the 2013 season no matter where you might be.

Motorsports Expo 2013 is here and last night the cars and booths got situated at the New York State Fairgrounds in Syracuse. As usual, I only took a few pictures as a tease and will take more today and Sunday.

Plus I was able to get a few interviews with folks as they got their cars looking sharp for this show. We’ll be there this afternoon and again in the evening with my daughters in tow as mom has to work until 8 PM. It will be fun as they love the cars and the atmosphere of this show.

We also would like to welcome VP Fuels on board as out latest sponsor. They have been sponsoring the big race at Syracuse for a few years now and their race fuel powers many of the cars in our area. We are proud to represent them and will be sure to stop by the booth later today to thank them in person.

Now let’s chat more about what is new for today on the Audio Page. I begin with my interviews from Friday night in the order they were recorded. Jason Barney told me about the new Sprint Car he had at Motorsports Expo 2013 as the event was setting up and who would be driving it.

I’ll be bust Saturday as I’ll make a lunch time run at the show before coming home for dinner and picking up my daughters to bring them with me for the night time part of the Expo. As always we’ll be loading up as much as possible and want to chat with as many of you as possible so don’t be bashful.
