New on the Audio Page for today:

Dan Creeden gets ready for his first race in three weeks and talks about some new equipment.

I had a really nice day on Wednesday as we did some things as a family and invited a couple of my daughter’s friends to come with us. It was nice to get out of the house for a good portion of the day and see how well my kids do at picking friends. Yeah, I needed that.

I hope to get out again tomorrow and see some friends to the south and yes I have been talking to a lot of people I just haven’t been hitting the record button. I got back later on Wednesday so I only had time to get one interview but it is a good one with a man I consider to be one my better friends in this business.

Now let’s chat more about this interview on the Audio Page as we get closer to a big weekend in racing. Dan Creeden gets ready for his first race in three weeks at Georgetown and talks about some new equipment as well as how certain tracks wear tires differently.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Alan Rudalavage talks about what went wrong with me and a nice surprise he had at a banquet.
Marc Johnson ran down his plans for the year that now include a brand new big block engine.

Today I finally open up with my good friend Alan Rudalavage about what happened to me on Friday. I knew he wouldn’t yell at me and would be there for me and he was. We talked for a long time before I hit the record button and it really helped. I’ve am fortunate to have so many people who care deeply about me and I promise I will seek out your counsel next time things look bad for me. And after today I am moving on.

I still have not gone to Facebook since Friday and will do that later today. I don’t know what to expect and I’m sure a few of my other friends are going to yell at me and that is the part I am dreading most. And some love to kick you when you're down and I'm sure some of that will be there too.

A few people called me Friday night but I knew they were not going to be happy with me and I just didn’t want to hear it. I need to suck it up and deal with the fallout whatever it may be. Wish me well and I do know…I have nobody to blame but myself. I'm so sorry!!!

So today on the Audio Page I start out with a conversation that starts out personally and ends with some good old fashioned race talk from a pair of guys who just can’t give it up and don’t know what else to do. Alan Rudalavage talks about what went wrong with me, a nice surprise he had at a banquet and review the different ways tracks decide starting lineups for heats and features. What do you guys think is the best way?

Marc Johnson ran down his plans for the year that now include a brand new big block engine, tells me where he is planning on running that engine as well as the new chassis he has coming. I’m excited for you Marc!

New on the Audio Page for today:

Mike Mahaney describes his hopes for his first ever races later this week in Florida at Volusia.
Tony Veneziano reports on the All Star and World of Outlaw Sprint Car action from Volusia.

Monday was another real nice day for me and my family. It was my youngest daughter’s tenth birthday and it was a gymnastics themed gift set as she just loves taking gymnastics lessons. She passed her first hurdle and will be moved up into the next group very soon. It was a fun day for sure.

I also have been getting my nerve up to call some of my best friends in the business and had two heart to heart talks today with two people who have been there for me before and were there for me on Monday. I promise it won’t happen again and I’ll be sure to reach out to these people next time well before I get those bad thoughts in my head. And tomorrow I will air my honest chat with Alan Rudalavage and open up to him and you as well.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page including a driver who is headed to the DIRTcar Nationals for the first time. Mike Mahaney describes his hopes for his first ever races later this week in Florida at Volusia as he sat in the hauler on Sunday and ran down some changes in his plans for 2017.

Tony Veneziano reports on the All Star and World of Outlaw Sprint Car action from Volusia as well as the wild crashes and the triumphant return of a former champion.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Bobby Varin runs down where he will be racing this year in both Modifieds and Sprint Cars.
Jim Olin previews Fingerlakes Speedworld at the Fingerlakes Mall in Auburn on February 4th-5th.

We’re back today after a bit of a rough weekend. So sorry for all the drama but I was really not in a good frame of mind after some news on Friday. I need to toughen up, make better long term decisions and get to work so I did so on Sunday and will be hard at work all week long.

The kids are off from school so it will be great to do a few things with them and not have to wake up in the morning either. I’ll be back bowling again on Tuesday which is good. I need to be more active in the winter as the blues really seem to hit me hard at this time of the year. If you’re looking for someone to stop out for a visit gimme a call or message me at doug@dougsdirtdiary.com.

Enough about my glitch on Friday, let’s talk more about what we have on the Audio Page starting with a good friend who made some time for me on Sunday. Bobby Varin runs down where he will be racing this year in both Modifieds and Sprint Cars, talks about a new car that he is waiting on and comments on his son’s book.

Jim Olin previews Fingerlakes Speedworld at the Fingerlakes Mall in Auburn on February 4th-5th and describes some of the activities he has planned on each day. To be a part of it call Jim at 315-632-8046.

Alright here we go! After a nice night with my family and phone calls from some good friends, true friends, I am ready to get back at it today. So do I know what the future holds? Heck no. But I know that I’m not laying down, not losing my values and not going to disappoint my family.

I’ll be back in the studio today, going to do my DAMNEST to get my swagger back and deal with whatever the road in front of me has in store for me.   I am so sorry but Friday I was really up against it. Thank you to all of you who messaged me and sent me emails. Really thank you!!!

Sorry to have let you down. I truly hope it won’t happen again. I’ll bring this website back around if it kills me no MATTER WHAT IT TAKES. I’ve made some bad decisions, emotional decisions…won’t happen again!

Come back tomorrow for more stuff…I promise!

New on the Audio Page for today:

Rocky Warner compares his last two seasons and tells me what he has in store for this season.

I have some things I need work out here and it may take a bit to do so. I’m going to try to get back as soon as possible but this is out of my control and I need to deal with it quickly. I’ll keep you posted.

Thanks to everyone who has made this website possible for all these years. The drivers, the racetracks, our sponsors and all of you who come here. I love racing and have the upmost respect for all of you who do it. Stay focused on your racecars and be thankful. We’re fortunate to be a part of it.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page for today starting with a man who is pretty darned happy these days as he should be. Rocky Warner compares his last two seasons where he visited victory lane fifty times and tells me what he has in store for this season as he relaxes with some friends last weekend.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Tim Kerr explains why he likes to pick up new cars at mid season and his years racing on asphalt.
Brad Steinruck explains why he did not race much last season and his hopes to race more in 2017.

The snow did not pile up as predicted on Wednesday/Thursday bit it was enough to have to remove it. When I snowblowed the driveway the radar said it was not snowing. Well it was! Hopefully the warmer weather this weekend will help some of it melt away.

I have a pair of good ones up today that I hope you enjoy and tomorrow we’ll be back with Rocky Warner as he talks about his 2016 season and what he hopes to do this year. I will also be back in the studio today and doing a lot as I need to get a little ahead.

I’m excited about Saturday night as we’ll finally get to see some NASCAR on TV. They’ve made some aerodynamic changes that should put more emphasis on driving and I predict you’ll see the cream rise to the top this season even more than in recent years. And let’s hope they don’t wad anything up at the big track at Daytona.

Racing continues in Volusia and what a race that must have been on Wednesday night. So happy to see nobody was hurt in the wild crash involving Joey Saldana. That could have been bad and we’re so relieved to hear that everyone is okay.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page as we get ready for the weekend. Tim Kerr explains why he likes to pick up new cars at mid-season, what his plans are for the coming season and remembers his two years racing on some well known asphalt tracks.

Brad Steinruck explains why he did not race much last season, his hopes to race his stock car more in 2017 and describes what it is like to work on an aircraft carrier.
