It was a good day for me on Wednesday as I did some writing and got a lot of chores done around the house. I have a lot more to do today as I nurse a sore calf muscle. We golfed a hilly course on Tuesday and my calf is barking like a dog. I know…I need to get in better shape for as much golf as I do. Gonna start working out with Allie so I’ll handle that once I’m back to 100%.

As you can see in addition to some of my stuff we have some from Steve Ovens as well. He not only did a chat with me but sent me a bunch of his stuff from last Saturday at Woodhull. He sent me a lot so look for some of those today, tomorrow and Saturday as well.
I’ll try to get into the studio again today so if you want someone in particular just send me a message and I’ll do my best to get them for you. Thinking about Fulton and Utica Rome this weekend as I may need to limit my walking.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you today on the Audio Page starting with a man who had a very busy weekend. Lucas Wolfe told me how close he came to making the Knoxville Nationals on Saturday night, how he made his way to Weedsport on Sunday and looks ahead to a busy stretch this weekend.

Paulie Colagiovanni recapped his third place finish Saturday night at Fonda and how close he came to a victory as well as how fast the racetrack was after a few showers.

Matt Billings showed some damage on his Sprint Car on Sunday and talked about Saturday’s wreck as he prepared for some action on Sunday at Weedsport.

Steve Ovens talks about the tight point’s battles ay Woodhull, runs down what is happening this Saturday as well as a big special race this Tuesday.

Jake Dgien won the crate Sportsman race at Woodhull and spoke about how crazy this particular race was as well as how he got the lead despite some of what he saw up front.

Carter Dennis told Steve Ovens about his Hobby Stock win and described how big the right foot is on this high banked track while thanking his son for the ride.

Dylon Gleason spoke with Steve Ovens after his Mini Stock win and talked about winning his first. Nothing like a first time winner! Congrats Dylon!

Paul Kinney recapped his Saturday night at Fonda with the ESS that ended up running into the a.m.
Taylor Caprara explained why he was driving the 66w at Weedsport after a tough night on Saturday.

I had another fun day on Monday and Allie is still basking in the glow of her second place finish Monday night with the Syracuse Microd Club. My day started with a round of golf with Rich Vleck before we came back to the house to do voice tracks for the next edition of Speedway Showcase. I’ll tell you what…that Rich is one heck of a golfer. You’d do well to include him on a Captain n’ Crew as he smacks the heck out of the ball.

We have a lot of good stuff today on the audio Page but the big news was the release of the Super DIRT Week schedule for 2017. A lot of you who are in the know, myself included, had to breathe a sigh of relief as there was a reason you haven’t heard anything about this until yesterday. Good to hear the announcement and happy to see it back at Oswego Speedway.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page as we get hit hump day today on Wednesday. Steve Paine talks about his Modified win at Canandaigua, how he did when he put on a new set of tires and his first night racing with his oldest son.

Jessica Power explained how she ended up at Can Am Saturday and how she almost picked up a win.
Tony Veneziano reports on the Knoxville Nationals and how a NASCAR driver gave the race a boost.

I was on no sleep Monday…no sleep. I stayed up too late and could not get to sleep before the contractors came in the morning to swap out a bath tub that was peeling. They were loud and kept me awake except for an hour at lunch time so I was as tired as tired could be on Monday.

As I write this I am getting ready to head to the NYS Fairgrounds with Allie to do some racing on what I hope will be a very quick night. It’s her last race till September so I know she is hoping to do well.

I’ll be in studio this morning to do the next Speedway Showcase voice tracks and that new show will air sometime this weekend I believe. I’ll make sure I record something to let you guys know and I;’ll have that up for you tomorrow.

Now let’s chat more about the five clips we have for you today on the Audio Page as we chug along on a Tuesday. Jimmy Phelps won just his 2nd race of the season Friday at Brewerton and told me how good his car was as well as how much the track surface reminded him of classic Brewerton.

Lance Yonge talked about being inducted into the ESS Hall of Fame, how much the honor meant to him after 22 years with the club and what he misses and does not miss about racing.

Matt Guererri, aka Gibz,  talks with Nick Guererri about his recent win at Canandaigua as they ribbed each other as well as another member of the family who was not racing on Sunday. Funny stuff here!

Jessica Power explained how she ended up at Can Am on Saturday and how she almost picked up a win as well as how she almost pounded the wall while up front before finishing fifth.

Tony Veneziano reports on the Knoxville Nationals, explained how Donny Schatz continued his dominance and how a NASCAR driver gave the race an extra boost.

Billy VanInwegen explained why the heat win was special and why he had a rough start on the top.

After the feature races:

Rocky Warner climbed victory hill after his Sportsman win and talked about his race up at the front.
Danny Varin made it two in a row winning his first in Weedsport and spoke about his big victory.
Lucas Wolfe was fast late coming from12th to 2nd and talked about how a bad draw hurt his chances.
Jason Barney picked up 11 spots to finish in third spoke about having a good run for the points.
Scott Kreutter finished in fourth and talked some issues during the race and the tricky race track.
Jonathon Preston earned a pair of top five finishes on the weekend and talked about his 5th place.

I had a fun time last night at Weedsport Speedway for the ESS Legends Reunion show which also feature some crate Sportsman action. It was a beautiful day and a nice crowd as on hand as well as a good field of cars in the pit area. 31 ESS Sprinters and 32 Sportsman were there to entertain the fans.

Danny Varin won the ESS A-Main for his first ever win in just his second time at the track in a Sprint Car. He led every lap and held off a charging Lucas Wolfe in the closing laps. Wolfe flew in that morning from Knoxville after just missing the show by one spot while Varin won his second on the weekend after a victory the night before at Fonda.

Rocky Warner won a close battle up front with Zach Sobotka to make it two in a row in Weedsport. Warned had the lead at the line and was in front by a nose on the backstretch when the caution came out. Once they got back to racing he pulled away for the victory.
It was great to see a lot of people I hadn’t seen in a few weeks and catch up on things. And at some point all you racers are going to get sick of me bragging on my oldest daughter Allie’s racing. You are so nice to let me enjoy it and I thank you guys so much for all the encouragement.

There was a serious moment however when a tire came off a car in turn three. It bounced into the pit area at a pretty good clip and grabbed everyone’s attention very quickly. Fortunately it bounced off a hauler and into a car but nobody was injured. The car was that of ESS president Chuck Miller and it looked brand new before the dent on top of the right front fender. Sorry Chuck but better your car than anyone in the pits and nice car by the way. Those new Fords look sharp.

Today I’ll be in the studio, doing some writing and racing with Allie at the NYS Fairgrounds. It will be her last race until September 10th. Come on out and see us and these kids are really something. Race time 7 p.m.

It is so sad!
