New on the Audio Page for today:

Billy VanPelt talks about winning his 19th track championship at Woodhull and his 2017 season.
Pete Stefanski told me about his Pro Stock race at Super DIRT Week and racing at Ransomville.

I enjoyed a semi-day off on Tuesday as once again I got working in the afternoon. I just can’t sit still and never could. I look so forward to time off and then halfway through the day I get bored and need something to do. Thank you ADHD.

I’ll have some news up tomorrow for you as I waited to give another media outlet first dibs. Plus we’ll talk about something new coming up for my daughter Allie as she’ll be getting a chance to do some indoor racing in December with someone we all know very well. Yes, she’s excited and I’ll have that up in the next few days.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you today on the Audio Page as we all start switching over to off-season mode. Billy VanPelt talks about winning his 19th track championship at Woodhull, how his 2017 season went as he raced at two weekly tracks and explained why he enjoys helping young racers.

Pete Stefanski told me about his Pro Stock race at Super DIRT Week, how much he enjoyed racing at Ransomville weekly and why he is not sure about 2018 just yet.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Mat Williamson talked about his Modified win in Charlotte and who helped after he hurt an engine.
Tony Veneziano reports on the final race for the World of Outlaws as they wrapped up their season.

I had another busy day on Monday and got a lot done. Look for my new column in today’s Syracuse Post Standard and online at www.syracuse.com/motorsports.

I did a lot in the studio so I could have a day off for bowling. The kids are off from school today too so it will be a fun day as I’ll make sure we do something fun in the afternoon before I head to the lanes.

And you guys know how I am…I’ll probably end up doing some work today anyways as I just hate telling someone to call me back if I pick up the phone. In the can I have driver chats with Billy VanPelt and Pete Stefanski plus some news from Jeremie Corcoran on his next big project.

Now let’s chat more about what is new on the Audio Page starting out with a man who got some much needed help this past weekend. Mat Williamson talked about his Modified win in Charlotte, who helped after he hurt an engine in his heat race and how much he enjoyed beating who he considers the best in the sport right now.

Tony Veneziano reports on the final race for the World of Outlaws as they wrapped up their season at The World Finals and offers his take on the top runners.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Danny Varin talks about his 2017 season that included 7 Sprint Car wins and one in a Modified.
Stacy Jackson spoke about his eight win season and the work he did in the race shop on Sunday.

I got a lot done on Sunday as Season in Review interviews were the order of the day. I was able to even put a few in the can and set up some more for today so it should be a good week for me.

Allie’s banquet was Saturday night and I must tell you that the Syracuse MIcrod Club really takes great care of these young racers. The stuff we walked out with was nothing short of impressive with monogramed jackets, throw blankets as well as posters and plaques. Wow. Color me shocked! I’ve seen other banquets that can’t compete with this. Wow!

She’ll be wearing that jacket today to school and be proud to do so although not many young people will notice I’m sure as most ninth graders don’t care much about cars. Sad isn’t it? When I was a teen if you didn’t have a car you didn’t date very well as it was an essential. Try making out in the back of an Uber Car. I don’t think that would go over very well.

Now let’s chat more about what is on the Audio Page for today as we start out the first full week of the off-season for many dirt drivers. Danny Varin talks about his 2017 season that included 7 Sprint Car wins, one in a Modified while wondering what may happen for him in 2018.

Stacy Jackson spoke about his eight win season in Modified & Sportsman competition, the work he did in the race shop on Sunday and his young crew that help keep him racing.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Eric Boozel talks about his win last weekend in Charlotte and how he got around the big track.
Leon Andrus told me about his season at Afton and why he decided to step down from his role.

I hope you all had a great Saturday. I was off on purpose so I could attend my daughter’s racing banquet and we had a great time. I’ll be in the studio for a good part of the day today and hope to get back to Season in Reviews so if you’re free and want to chat about the year that was message me and we’ll get it done.

I have an easy week this time around as I won’t be on the road as much so I hope to get caught up on some things that I’ve let slide as I work on Master Plan 3. You guys know how it gets. Prioritize, prioritize, prioritize. But so far so good and I continue to be optimistic.

Now let’s chat more about the new interviews on the Audio Page starting with someone new to the website. Eric Boozel talks about his win last weekend in Charlotte, how he got around the big track in his Acura NSX as well as what the rules are for this show as well as many others to our south. Good stuff!

Leon Andrus told me about his season at Afton Motorsports Park, what he learned as co-promoter and why he decided to step down from his role.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Pat LaPage talks about the storm damage he saw down south and home insurance policies.
Tom Tophoven tells me why he did not race last year and may not for a few years still to come.

The weekend is upon us and for most of us racing is now in the rear view mirror for a while. Others still have some races to go and we wish everyone the best as they wrap up action tonight at The Dirt Track at Charlotte. Wish we were there with ya!

We have more good stuff for you today and we’ll be back tomorrow with the other chats I did yesterday. I have a banquet for Allie tonight as the Syracuse Microd Club looks back at their season. It will be to see everyone again, especially our new friends The Kuleszo’s, and talk about our kids all night. See you guys there I hope.

Now let’s chat more about what we have on the Audio Page for you today starting with some first hand accounts of what hurricanes can do and how you can make sure you’re prepared financially. Pat LaPage talks about the storm damage he saw down south in Texas & Florida and how some home insurance policies cover these types of things while other don’t.

Tom Tophoven tells me why he did not race last year, why may not for a few years still to come and how close he came to getting his Sportsman out during the summer.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Joe Marotta and I share some memories of days gone by and think of our friend Gary Montgomery.
Steve Ovens tells me how he first met Gary Montgomery and how they helped each other learn.

I had a nice day and we wish all of you who are down in Charlotte all the best as The World Finals kicks into high gear today…literally! One of these years I am going to have to make arrangements and make it down there as I have never been to the area.

We have some new business ventures coming in 2018 so maybe I can make a road trip and get to see it myself and do some with some great video to show as well. If things keep going as they are now my latest plan should work out very well.

Don’t worry though, this website is not going anywhere and what we do with these new projects should help this out as well as the bottom line. And I’ll be too busy to get depressed as idle time for me, like a lot of people, is not good. Too much time alone with a flawed ADHD brain is not a good thing.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you today on the Audio Page as we think back to the past and remember a good friend through someone who knew him for decades and another who was very close to him in his final years. Joe Marotta and I talk about what he is doing today, share some memories of days gone by and think of our friend Gary Montgomery who we lost last year. Rest in Peace Gary!

Steve Ovens tells me how he first met Gary Montgomery, how they helped each other learn and gives us some news on Woodhull Raceway.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Bill Shea talks about Utica Rome Speedway, small blocks in 2018 and the NE Racing Products show.
Phil Vigneri III tells me about racing small blocks at Freedom Raceway and Wraptile Graphics.

Yeah fall is finally here alright. It did not get out of the 40’s here in Central New York and I’m starting to realize that outdoor activities in nice weather may be a thing of the past in 2017. Glad I got out to golf last week that’s for sure.

I did some writing in the afternoon and then got to work in the studio. I have more to do today so be sure to come back and see who we get to talk to. I have calls out to several and I’ll be amping up the Season in Review interviews too.

And don’t forget to set your clocks back this weekend. Boy that’s one thing I really wish would go away. The winter time is depressing enough without having it get dark before 5 o’clock. Man!

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page as we get closer to The World Finals beginning later tonight. Bill Shea talks about what’s going on in the off season at Utica Rome Speedway, small blocks in 2018 and their presence at the NE Racing Products show.

Phil Vigneri III tells me about racing small blocks at Freedom Raceway weekly, how he did in his last races at Mercer and showing off Wraptile Graphics at the NE Racing Products show in two weeks.
