Jimmy Phelps previews tonight’s USAC Sprint race in Weedsport and recaps his most recent races.
Shawn Donath tells me how he won his first Sprint Car race in four years this past Sunday in Vernon.
Justin Wright got ready to race Friday at Outlaw Speedway and talked about being well prepared.
Jason Knowles spoke about his nice start to the year and wondered why he is doing so well so far.

I had a nice day on Monday as I did some writing and got some new interviews recorded in the home studio. All but one of what I did is up today as well as a couple I did on Friday at Outlaw Speedway.

Summer is almost here and the mid week action is heating up. Tonight the USAC Sprints are part of a three division show at Weedsport Speedway while on Wednesday Can Am Speedway has a small block/big block shootout while Outlaw Speedway hosts a Short Track Super Series event. If all goes well I should be able to hit one of these shows but we’ll have to wait and see as we’re still in school mode here.

I know a lot of you look forward to out chats with Tony Veneziano but he was on the road all day on Monday. We hope to get with him today and have that up for you tomorrow as the World of Outlaw Sprints had two races this past weekend.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you today on the Audio Page starting with a preview of what is on tap tonight in Cayuga County. Jimmy Phelps previews tonight’s USAC Sprint race in Weedsport, recaps his pair of top five finishes from the weekend and tells me about the new Kartway on the property set to open this fall.

Shawn Donath tells me how he won his first Sprint Car race in four years with the Empire Super Sprints this past Sunday in Vernon, how quickly he made his way to the front and how special it was to share with his dad.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Billy Ward talked about racing with his son, remembers his first time as a driver and his race past.
Allison Teed was fresh off her first top ten in the Street Stock class and talked about starting early.
Dennis French walked me through his IMCA Hobby Stock and told me what he likes about the class.
Shawn Hort told me how he is doing in his Mod Lite and how much he is enjoying racing with his son.

We had a very nice Father’s Day as we got to race with Allie and the Kuleszo Race Team at the New York State Fairgrounds. We had a rained out feature from two weeks ago to make up so Allie got in two features, practice and a heat race. She did the best she has done so far in the Modified division and we could not be happier.

I have all new people up on the site today as I met a lot of new folks this past weekend. Sure, these may not be drivers you know but each has their own unique story. And if you know me, I’ve always said every driver has a story so I hope you enjoy hearing about some new people too.

I’ll be at Outlaw Speedway on Wednesday night and was hopeful that I’d be able to do double duty on Sunday but I was just so wiped out after a hot day on the asphalt. There was no place you could go to avoid it and we were all just so tired afterwards. Sorry about that!

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page today as we get ready for the final week of school for the kiddies. Billy Ward talked about racing with his son in the IMCA Modified division at Outlaw Speedway, remembers his first time as a driver and why he decided to start driving at on dirt at age 42.

Allison Teed was fresh off her first top ten in the Street Stock class at Outlaw Speedway, ran down her goals for the features and talked about starting racing with her dad at an early age.

Dennis French walked me through his IMCA Hobby Stock, described some of car’s past in the Midwest and told me what he likes about the class.

Shawn Hort told me how he is doing in his Mod Lite, where he feels he may be lacking and how much he is enjoying racing with his son and the Syracuse Microd Club.

Tyler Siri spoke about his race day role at Outlaw Speedway and looks ahead to a big show Wednesday.
Brian Knowles talked about balancing racing with his kids and wonders if his youngest could race.

Got tied up with things here on Saturday but am ready for a nice day today as we race with Allie this afternoon and then hopefully I will be able to make it out to Utica Rome as they have a lot of really good stuff on tap for tonight.

Let’s keep our fingers crossed as they have been rained out in all but one show so far so they really need this. Hopefully the afternoon stuff they are talking about skips us and allows us to get in an uninterrupted race day.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you today on the Audio Page as we get ready for our last weekend before the kids get out of school. Eldon Payne Jr. remembered when we had some fun a few years back, offered me another chance to do it and described some changes he’s made with his Modified.

I had a blast last night at Outlaw Speedway as I was a substitute announcer for Paul Szmal. I had a great time and everyone there really made feel welcome. I wish I knew the cars better but I had fun and hope I didn’t make too many mistakes.

It was nice to see some old friends and get out of my comfort zone a little. I met some new people before the race started and hope to do the same today at Fulton as I am going to try to concentrate on people I have not chatted with yet this year.

I put all mu post race interviews up today and will hold the pre-race chats until a later time. I hope to go to Utica Rome after the races get over with my daughter on Friday and am thinking about a possible mid week show…maybe Outlaw for their Deyo Series race on Wednesday. We’ll see I guess.

We’ll be at Outlaw Speedway tonight as Paul Szmal needs a sub as an announcer. I have not been in that booth to announce in close to ten years so it will be fun. And I know and have worked with most of the people in the tower and elsewhere at the track so I know I will have fun. That’s why I am doing it! Maybe I’ll see you there.

Now let’s chat more about the stuff we have for you to listen to on the Audio Page starting out with some tips for you drivers out there from a man who knows and is always willing to share what he knows. This weekend I will be at Outlaw Speedway on Friday subbing for Paul Szmal behind the microphone. I have not been there all year long and look forward to working with Mel Thomas and everyone at Outlaw Speedway. I have not announced there in a long time so it will certainly be fun.

Pete Desalvo told me about the opener at ESTA Safety Park Dragstrip and explained how things work.

It was another beautiful day here in Central New York and we got to get out and cruise the Camaro a little bit. It’s not running a very well but even shaking like it is under acceleration it is still more fun than my daily driver. Not nearly ass comfortable but still fun.

I got a bunch of things done yesterday and three of the four chats up today were recorded on Tuesday. In addition to the usual types of stuff I also included a chat on our local drag strip here in the area and yes, I do need to get out there and check it out. I watch NHRA, although I am behind, and would love to see what it is like at the local level. More on that later.
