New on the Audio Page from Utica Rome Speedway:

Dylan Westbrook talked about his win in the first ESS heat and how patient he had to be to stay low.
Cory Sparks won the second ESS heat race and talked about the driver he saw on the outside lane.
Steve Poirier came from fifth to first in one lap to win his heat and explained how he made it work.
Jordan Poirier told me why he really had to slow his Sprint Car down to keep it low in his heat win.
Matt Tanner made the top work to win the ESS A-Main and talked about his 2nd Speedweek victory.
Danny Varin finished 2nd in the ESS A-Main and spoke about winning the Speedweek championship.
Chuck Hebing came from the b-main to finish third and wondered if he used his car up too early.
Jimmy Phelps led every lap to win the SDS race and told Shane how some well timed yellows helped.
Danny Johnson was strong late to finish second and talked about his second solid SDS finish in a row.
Erick Rudolph raced his way to third from thirteenth and spoke about being patient in the race.

It was quite the night at Utica Rome Speedway as both he Empire Super Sprints and the Super DIRTcar Series were both on hand. A nice crowd was there too on what was an absolutely beautiful Sunday summer day.

Of course those kinds of days mean that the racetrack can take a beating from these two classes when it is hot and timed hot laps under a bright sun are thrown in as well. It was a race to the bottom in the heat races but it was impressive to see how these drivers get a round a super slick half mile track.

Things changed after the sun went down and Matt Tanner came from 12th to 1st to win the ESS A-Main. See what I mean? Danny Varin came from 9th to second and chased Tanner for the last 15 laps. After just missing a qualifying spot by one in his heat, Chuck Hebing worked his way from 22nd to 3rd.

The Super DIRTcar Series also saw some drivers make charges although nobody had anything for Jimmy Phelps. He led them all and pulled away a little at the end. Danny Johnson came up to second, fell back to fourth but made up some spots late and at times was a tick faster than Jimmy as they worked traffic. Erick Rudolph was racy too as he came from 13th to 3rd. Nice.

As for me, I didn't say anthing to anybody but I was a little slow as something I ate or something just didn’t sit well with me and I was not myself. I was cautious after a good start but did not get as much done as I would gave liked. Sorry about that. But I did get some real nice pre race chats and I’ll start putting some of those up tomorrow as well as some studio stuff I hope to get done today.

It was quite the stretch and I’m sure the return to normalcy for some of you might be looked forward to. I am constantly amazed by what the racers, the tracks and the fans do in these busy points of the year and. My hat is off to every one of you. My respect for what it takes to race continues to grow. Thank you all for what you do.
