New on the Audio Page from Land of Legends Raceway:

Early in the night:

A.J. Lloyd won his 1st Sportsman feature of the year and told me why how tough it is to be chased.
Paul Guererri talked about his win in the first Sportsman heat and what went wrong in the make-up.
Steve Gray led every lap to win his heat race and talked about the race line he used in turn three.
Dan Douville got the win in the first ESS heat race and told me why drawing ninth was not that bad.
Paul Kinney told some stories after his ESS heat win and talked about running the top groove early.
Matt Tanner described how he made a pass on an early restart to get the lead and win his heat race.
Josh Pieniazek pulled away twice to win his heat race and explained why he had to peddle in 1 & 2.
Justin Wright looked over his winning Modified and wondered what to do set up wise for the feature.
Steve Paine explained how he was in his Mod heat win and how badly the last three weeks went.
Gll Tegg Jr. started out front in his heat win and told me how his lap times were compared to others.

After the features and A-Main:

Marc Minutolo walked me through his Street Stock feature win and talked about growing collection.
Dave Marcuccilli methodically went to 1st late and told me how those last few laps came together.
Steve Poirier made a three wide move through the middle to get the lead and talked about his win.
Chuck Hebing worked his way from 13th to 2nd and explained why he needed a late yellow flag.
Matt Tanner got a spot on the last lap to finish third and talked about passing a lot of good cars.
Josh Pieniazek led laps early before finishing fifth and told me about a problem he had in turn 2.
Paul Kinney took the lead for two laps finishing sixth and talked about why the outside fell off.
Justin Wright earned his 1st ever Mod win at Land of Legends and explained why it was so nice.

Allie and I has a really nice night at one of my old stomping grounds as we headed to Canandaigua and Land of Legends Raceway. Everyone was so nice and we got here nice and early and got a lot done.

Having her with me after she has picked up so much more about racing makes me better at the track plus having an extra set of knowing eyes to watch with me helps a lot. She ran down people I needed to talk to and helped me get a season high 34 interviews recorded. Thanks Allie!

They had a lot to do on this night as they had a make-up Sportsman feature and the Empire Super Sprints on hand so they rushed, rushed and rushed some more. They took a quick break at intermission to water the top and then they went at it taking pictures of the winners afterwards but no more than that as time was a key with an 11 o’clock curfew.

There were two first time winners as A.J. Llloyd won the make up race for his first win of the season while Justin Wright won his first in the Modified feature. And to make it that more special many of his family and friends were on hand as he celebrated his 32nd birthday.

I got a lot of good stuff as I was loose and comfortable because I had some extra help and because the drivers were so nice and encouraging to Allie as it seemed like everyone has been watching her races. Thanks to all of you for a great night.

I’ll be in the studio today as a blister I’ve been worried about has gone nationwide. I was limping last night for most of the night and thanks to Dan for giving us a few rides when I really needed it. I’m going to stay out of shoes today and for as long as I can to let it heal. Outside of that I could not be happier. Thanks again to everyone who we ran into last night.

I had a nice day on Friday and by 1 p.m. all my work was done. We started early as Rich Vleck and I did voice tracks for the final Speedway Showcase of the season. It is the county fair race from Genesee Speedway and we had a nice time. I even got to voice a commercial which I have not done in a while. Fun!

Now at 1 p.m. the rain looks like it is holding off so I am going to go out and swing the clubs. I was very good and very bad my last two times out so we’ll see which Doug shows up on Friday. You just never know.

Now let’s chat more about our offerings on the Audio Page today starting out with a look ahead at the biggest show in New York State this weekend. Jeff Burton previews NASCAR at The Glen this weekend and explains what makes the track so special as well as what he feels is the biggest take on the season so far.

Mat Williamson talked about some of his racing past at Brewerton and his good season with 11 wins.

We had a nice day and an excellent night as we raced with Allie at the NYS Fairgrounds with the Syracuse Microd Club. She finished second but ran the wheels off her car and caught the leader of the race after being half a straightaway back. It was her best night ever even though she finished second and she ran the leader cleanly and never touched her. I was very proud.

Today I am doing some voice work this morning and then have plans with a friend in the afternoon. Allie and I will be at Land of Legends Raceway on Saturday and then I’ll go to Utica Rome Speedway on Sunday.

I have a lot of stuff in the can as well as a preview of NASCAR at The Glen with 21 time Cup winner Jeff Burton. That will be up tomorrow as well as some nice chats with drivers who will be racing later that night. Be sure to come back for that.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page as we check in with five Modified racers to see how they’re doing. Mat Williamson talked about some of his racing past at Brewerton, his eleven win season and how his car lost prime in the fuel cell as it sat on the banking under red. Never heard that before!

Today is race day for Allie and the big cars join the show tonight as the young drivers host their own autograph night. It’s going to be fun and if everything works out I may have some stuff from this event up tomorrow with the drivers who bring their big cars out as well as Allie’s interview session with the drivers if the parents say it’s ok.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page today as we get closer to the first big race weekend of August.    New on the Audio Page for today:

Gary Tomkins told me about the challenges of Weedsport and why slick tracks are a challenge.
Jeremiah Shingledecker describes how he is doing at Lernerville and the new chassis under him.
Rob Bellinger evaluates how his first small block race went and some of what they changed.
Mike Prentice ran down a handling condition he is hoping to fix and hw his season is at Can Am.
Andrew Seamans talks about his job working with Hendrick Motorsports and his local dirt days.

It was hot and sticky on Tuesday and the rain everyone thought would happen a few days ago never got going here in our neck of the woods. I started the day with a golf outing/skins game at a course in Auburn I had never been to before. It was beautiful. If only my golf swing was. Ugh.

It was still fun and there are always some fun moments when you make shots that you have no business making. Golf is one of those games where every now and then you can hit one just like a pro. Maybe not as stylish or as powerful but the end result can still be the same. That’s why people like me keep coming back.

I was back in time from a morning round that I was still able to get some interviews done in the studio. Plus I plan on getting back at it again today.

There are five new clips for you today on the Audio Page beginning with some Modified racers who are still learning how to go faster. Gary Tomkins told me about the challenges of Weedsport, why slick tracks are a challenge for him now and how you try to adjust while looking for the fast line.

Jeremiah Shingledecker describes how he is doing at Lernerville, the new chassis under him and how he is fighting a problem that is not as common.

Rob Bellinger evaluates how his first small block race went and some of what they changed after having a big block set up in the car as well as what his hopes were for Brewerton last Friday.

Mike Prentice ran down a handling condition he is hoping to fix that he has never experienced before, what they have been doing to try to fix it and how things are going this season is at Can Am.

Andrew Seamans talks about his job working with Hendrick Motorsports as a Tire Technician with Alex Bowman’s #88, his days going to the dirt tracks with his dad and how he decided to move south and give it a shot.

I had a nice day on Monday as I got work done writing and in the studio. It sounds like the next few days could be a little wet so I got some outside stuff done ahead of time in case it gets even more wet.

I’ll be back in the studio later today and already have one thing set up and hope to add more. My weekend plans are still up in the air although we will be back racing with Allie this Thursday at the NYS Fairgrounds. Stop by and see as these young people are amazing with that they do on the track.

I had a nice day off on Sunday as we did some golfing and caught up with some friends. I know…but I needed a day to tease my buddies, have the rip on me and just have some fun with the guys. It was just what I needed.

I’ll be back in the studio today as we have recording and writing to do today and there is still some really good stuff in the can too. I may hit a mid week show this week but I have to check on some other things first. We’ll see. And if I get lucky I may have a nice surprise again too.
