Steve Poirier talked about his last race of Speedweek and the nice start to his night in Canandaigua.
Kyle Coffey got ready for hot laps on Saturday and talked about how close he is to his firs Mod win.

Kenny Hammond walked me through his win at Thunder Mtn. and wondered about running Mod.
A.J. Lloyd described how close he is to his first win of the year and his plans for the make-up race.

We had a nice day on Thursday as I picked up a new digital audio recorder and went racing with Allie. She was thinking too much and got second place. She didn’t do well right after her first win either. There are so many things to think about when you’re on the track and sometimes she just thinks too darned much.

Thanks to The Kuleszo family for all their hard work and of course all our great sponsors that got us here. We race again Sunday and are planning on adding a date later in the month at a new track. And I’d love to get her in something else before we call it a season so message me if you’re interested.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page starting out with some chats from last Saturday night. Steve Poirier talked about his last race of Speedweek and the nice start to his night in Canandaigua as well as describing the types of racetracks he does best at.

Steve Gray explained how he got back behind the wheel after a few years off, why he was away for a few years and wonders if he may be in a Modified sometime soon.

Kenny Hammond walked me through his win second win of the season at Thunder Mountain, tells me where he will be racing this weekend and wondered about running Modified later in the year.

A.J. Lloyd described how close he is to his first win of the year, his plans for the make-up race and the difference between driving into someone and driving over someone. Note: He won that race about two hours later!

New on the Audio Page for today:

Ryan Susice won his first ever Super DIRTcar Series and recapped doing so with a W-16 engine.
Danny Varin remembers his Empire Super Sprints win at Can Am and looks ahead to this Friday.
Josh Pieniazek evaluates where he is as a driver right nowand the need to get off the bottom.

Tony Finch II talked about his Fulton Speedway win last Saturday and why he liked this win best.
Allie Elkins describes her second feature win and why she felt the Microd was so much faster.

We had a nice day as I got a lot of work done and was in the studio well into the night. I ended getting enough done where I could put up six for today and six for tomorrow as well. I've been very busy which is good. Keeps my noisey brain from getting off track.

I’ll be racing with Allie tonight in what may be her second to last race of the year with Kuleszo Racing. I am hopeful to somehow get her in the 75 again this fall and again in select events next year but I'd also like her to try some kind of a big car this season. Or a Quarter Midget, or a kart on dirt or something else before it ends as she is on a good streak right now.

You guys know her, she takes care of the car, respects the people who work on it (and pay for it) and is improving fast. And she speaks and represents her team very well. Just ask her current car owners. They just love her and the feeling is mutual. Shout out to all of you that I know. It's been a great season. We just want to keep it going. Message me please at  doug@dougsdirtdiary.com. She's bumming right now as she was hoping to run the fall series here so let's help turn her frown upsidedown.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page for today as we being with a surprise winner from Monday. Ryan Susice won his first ever Super DIRTcar Series Monday at Merrittville Speedway and told me why he almost didn’t make it to the starting grid and how he beat the big blocks with a W-16 engine.

Danny Varin remembers his Empire Super Sprints win at Can Am Speedway the last time the series visited the track and looks ahead to going back to try to do it again this Friday.

Josh Pieniazek evaluates where he is as a Sprint Car driver right now, the need to get off the bottom more than he does and how hard the people with him to work to keep him on the track.

Jessica Power tells me about her most Sportsman recent victory, recapped her two races this past weekend and a described what it was like to be a guest on a local TV morning show.

Tony Finch II talked about his Fulton Speedway Sportsman win last Saturday, explained why he liked win #3 on the season the best so far and why he had to switch cars a few weeks back.

Allie Elkins describes her second feature win with the Syracuse Microd Club, why she felt that it was faster this time out and compared it to win number one. 3:01

I got a lot done on Tuesday after a long night on Monday. I did sleep late I’ll confess to that but I made up for it doing interviews well into the evening hours. It was fun catching up and nice to get off my sore toe for a few days.

I’ll be in the studio early today and then will go hang out and fish with some friends and Allie. We’ll be doing some other stuff to and I’ll have some photos up on Facebook showing what we are doing as both Allie and I hope t learn a lot today.

We had an excellent night on Monday as we waited out the rain and got to pick up heat win and feature win number two for Allie. Thanks so much to the Kuleszo family for all their help and thanks to everyone who made it possible for us to do this. Great job Allie!

It was a tough night however for Allie’s youngest teammate as she flipped in her feature race. It really shook her up and she almost didn’t drive her open wheel car but we convinced her to get back in the car and she did very well. Very proud of her. These are the big lessons that racing teaches. When you flip you get back in the car just like falling off the horse. So proud.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page starting with a winning driver from last Friday night. Billy Dunn told me about his 358 Modified win at Can Am, compares this season to last year and remembers his Super DIRTcar series race at Weedsport last weekend.

Pete Stefanski talked about his Pro Stock win on his birthday at Utica Rome Speedway, his plans to race tonight as part of the Super DIRTcar Series race at Ransomville and the accident he had on Tuesday.

Tony Veneziano reports on the two night Ironman 55 in Missouri, tells me what some of the Outlaws did on Sunday night and looks ahead to this weekend in Knoxville.

Brian Sage raced his small block on Saturday night and talked about getting a big block in the car soon.
Keith Granholm offered his first take on Canandaigua and the young people he saw race on Thursday.

Boy that was a hot one on Sunday wasn’t it? I stayed cool and did some work in the studio in between dips in the pool. It was a lazy day but a much needed day as I was just wiped out after Saturday night in the heat.

I have four nice chats for you to listen to today and I’ll be in the studio early on Monday before heading to the NYS Fairgrounds to race with Allie. It’s a rain out make up from a Monday a while back and we race again on Thursday so we have a busy stretch ahead of us.

Now let’s chat more about what’s new on the Audio Page for today starting with a veteran who tells me a form of racing he really wanted to try and it is probably not one you’re thinking about. Alan Johnson talks about his last few starts in a Modified, remembers an opportunity to try something different that he would have liked to have tried and what track gave him the most butterflies.

Coleman Gulick told me how he celebrated his birthday, how he gained confidence as a youngster and how racing brought him out of his shell as a racecar driver.

Brian Sage raced his small block on Saturday night and talked about getting a big block in the car soon while telling me the big end of the year shows he plans on using it at.

Dan Douville got the win in the first ESS heat race and told me why drawing ninth was not that bad.
Paul Kinney told some stories after his ESS heat win and talked about running the top groove early.
Matt Tanner described how he made a pass on an early restart to get the lead and win his heat race.
Josh Pieniazek pulled away twice to win his heat race and explained why he had to peddle in 1 & 2.

After the features and A-Main:

Marc Minutolo walked me through his Street Stock feature win and talked about growing collection.
Dave Marcuccilli methodically went to 1st late and told me how those last few laps came together.
Steve Poirier made a three wide move through the middle to get the lead and talked about his win.

Paul Kinney took the lead for two laps finishing sixth and talked about why the outside fell off.
Justin Wright earned his 1st ever Mod win at Land of Legends and explained why it was so nice.

Allie and I has a really nice night at one of my old stomping grounds as we headed to Canandaigua and Land of Legends Raceway. Everyone was so nice and we got here nice and early and got a lot done.

Having her with me after she has picked up so much more about racing makes me better at the track plus having an extra set of knowing eyes to watch with me helps a lot. She ran down people I needed to talk to and helped me get a season high 34 interviews recorded. Thanks Allie!

They had a lot to do on this night as they had a make-up Sportsman feature and the Empire Super Sprints on hand so they rushed, rushed and rushed some more. They took a quick break at intermission to water the top and then they went at it taking pictures of the winners afterwards but no more than that as time was a key with an 11 o’clock curfew.

There were two first time winners as A.J. Llloyd won the make up race for his first win of the season while Justin Wright won his first in the Modified feature. And to make it that more special many of his family and friends were on hand as he celebrated his 32nd birthday.

I got a lot of good stuff as I was loose and comfortable because I had some extra help and because the drivers were so nice and encouraging to Allie as it seemed like everyone has been watching her races. Thanks to all of you for a great night.

I’ll be in the studio today as a blister I’ve been worried about has gone nationwide. I was limping last night for most of the night and thanks to Dan for giving us a few rides when I really needed it. I’m going to stay out of shoes today and for as long as I can to let it heal. Outside of that I could not be happier. Thanks again to everyone who we ran into last night.

I had a nice day on Friday and by 1 p.m. all my work was done. We started early as Rich Vleck and I did voice tracks for the final Speedway Showcase of the season. It is the county fair race from Genesee Speedway and we had a nice time. I even got to voice a commercial which I have not done in a while. Fun!

Now at 1 p.m. the rain looks like it is holding off so I am going to go out and swing the clubs. I was very good and very bad my last two times out so we’ll see which Doug shows up on Friday. You just never know.
