Gil Tegg Jr. told me what his goals were for Saturday and described some issues they have to fix.
It was an absolutely beautiful day on Saturday. Probably the best day we had so far this year and we’re so happy it came on a race day. Allie and I spent some time in Canandaigua and had a great time seeing friends, seeing racecars on the racetrack and just getting dirty on a wonderful day.
I got thirteen chats done and will be searching for more today as it could be a little raw out there. Utica Rome is still a go as of the time I wrote this up on Saturday so check their website to see how they look today. And the Syracuse Microd Club has their annual tech day and fun race today and if they go we may head over for a few and see our friends there.

What a nice day it was on Friday. I actually went outside in shorts for my walk just because I could. Then the rains came but the good news is that it should be out of her really fast and should not be a factor today at all.
Can Am stats their season off with a big Super DIRTcar Series race on the big half mile and they have big money on the line with $10,000 going to the winner. Plus big money is also there for Sportsman and Four Cylinders as well.
Allie and I will be at Land of Legends Raceway as they have their first practice of the year on tap. We’ll also be at their Wednesday practice as well so we hope to see a lot of you there.

It sounds like we could have a very rainy day on tap for today and I’m hoping that it is not enough rain to mess with tomorrow as there is a lot on the card for Saturday. Keep your fingers crossed and let’s hope for the best.
I got on the road on Thursday as I stopped by to see some friends in Geneva to get an idea of what kind of equipment I would need to do some videos. I learned a lot and had fun sharing stories. Who knows, maybe I can get going what I have been hoping for and start a new chapter. We’ll see I guess.

Brandon Gibbons offered his take on racing after his first ever hot laps and the tree he hit off turn 4.
We actually had a little snow in the morning up here although I only heard about and did not see it so I will not be confirming that ugly rumor. But boy it did stay cold on Wednesday despite the fact that it looked nice outside. Better days are coming that we do know for sure.
I’m hoping for a good weekend as Saturday’s forecast is now looking better as Can Am has a Super DIRTcar Series race and Land of Legends Raceway has a practice that Allie and I will be attending. We’re hoping to so a little research on head and neck restraint systems as I have never tried one on and am very reluctant to if I’m being totally honest with you.
Hopefully I’ll feel better about it after Saturday but if I can get by without it I will. Only one track I am planning on running requires them so we’ll see. I’m sure they slow down the time it takes you to get out of the car if you had to and that is my number one fear. Am I wrong? Suggestions would be appreciated.

I had a nice day on Monday as I got a lot of little things done that really needed to get done. Things went fairly smooth so I am good shape and have a few more things checked off my Spring To Do List.
After that I got busy in the studio as I am hoping to take today off to go to the bowling banquet and say goodbye to all my bowling friends who I won’t see again till late September. It was a fun year. I had my first 279 in many years but my average was down a few pins as my pesky knees and an old shoulder injury made it tough. But we had fun and that’s what really matters.

| New on the Audio Page from Sunday’s practice at Utica Rome Speedway:
Addison Bowman talked about his Sportsman plans and the two jobs he has that keep him busy.
John Ramsey explained why he had a driver’s suit on and why he recently got out of asphalt racing.
Zach Sobotka watched some hot laps from the grandstand and talked about how his Sportsman was.
Craig Pritchard was the first one who had to make repairs and explained why he hit the wall in two.
Casey Williams was back behind the wheel and told me how it felt after two years off from racing.
I had a blast on Sunday as I got to smell some race fuel and see my first on track action at the Utica Rome Speedway practice. It was quite a day as they stayed on the track till 5:30 or so as some teams got as many as six sessions on the big half mile.
The track was in great shape too, as you’ll hear from the drivers, and everything went very smooth with only a few drivers having some extra work to do due to on track action. Although the track was backwards from a normal Sunday as turns one and two were tacky while turns three and four were slick. The leaves are not on the trees yet so that may have played a part in it but it did throw a few guys off as almost always you can charge into turn three harder. Not on this day however!
I also chatted with several new drivers and we’ll have a few of those up for you tomorrow. And then we’ll follow up with them later in the week to compare what they said before their first laps versus afterwards. So look for a lot of god stuff this week as we get ready some season openers this weekend.
