It was a nice, cool day on Friday as I laid low getting ready for a pair of race nights this weekend as we're heading to Canandaigua tonight and Weedsport tomorrow with the Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour. I saw a few tracks fell victim to weather last night as it was pretty rainy to our north and east. Sorry you missed out on a race night.

Sounds like we'll need to et out the hoodies this weekend as it is gonna be cool after the sun goes down. It will warm up again as the week gets going so summer is not over yeat. Thank goodness as I am not doen with it yet myself.

Bobby Herrington recapped his weekend that included a win at Fulton and a 3rd place at Can Am.
Karl Spoonhower Jr. talked about last Saturday's races at Thunder Mountain and the rest of 2019.

It was yet another stormy day in Central New York as we survived a few storms on Thursday. And now it has really cooled off which should make this weekend a lot more bearable for all of us who are heading to the racetracks.

We'll be at Land of Legends Raceway tomorrow and Weedsport Speedway on Sunday for a pair of Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour races. It is so hard to beleive that we are already just a few weeks away from the end of the regular season so enjoy this weekend and let the little stuff slide as before you know it we'll be sitting home missing everything we love about this sport so much.

Now let's chat more about what is new on the Audio Page for today starting with a pair of Modified winners fwho each traveled a long way to win in Central New York. Jim Witko Jr. told me how he took a brand new car with a new engine to victory lane at Brewerton Speedway last week, described what he was thinking as the laps wound down and ran down his late season plans.

Karl Spoonhower Jr. talked about last Saturday's races at Thunder Mountain Speedway, remarked on what it is that makes the track so unique and explains why they are calling it a season a little earlier this year. Don't worry...it's good news!

Tim McColman talked about his back to back 2nd place runs and remembers the cars he has driven.

It was a stormy day on Wednesday and it seems like we'll have another one today before we get going this weekend. The good news is that the weekend is gonna be a good one as we continue to have some nice luck of late. Paradise Speedway rained out as did Ransomville on Tuesday so let's hope that word won't be used again for a few days anyway.

I got some work done but not as much as I would have hoped so we'll be back at it again today with laying low on Friday as a plan. We'll see how that goes. We'll be at Land of Legends Raceway on Saturday and Weedsport Speedway on Sunday racing with Allie on both days and we hope to see you guys there.

Gary Folk Jr.  talks about his job as a flagger and what he learned from his only time as a driver.

It was a stormy day for most on Tuesday but all we got was a little rain here so we dodged the heavy stuff. I got three interviews done in the studio and am hoping to get more today we hit hump day and get one day closer to the race weekend.

I took care of a few requests today and will take care of another one tomorrow. I still can't believe it's early August as the summer has flown by like never before. For a while it seemed like summer was never gonna get here and now it's seems like it's coming to an end way too fast. Enjoy wheile you can boys and girls as it will be gone before you know it.

It was another beautiful day on Monday and I had a great time hanging out with Webmaster Andy as he gets used to life with a walker. He is doing well and we surely hope that continues and I'm gonna do everything I can to help which means I need to get more sponsors on this site and do a better job for the ones I have now. I am ready for the challenge Andy!

I got back a little later than I thought but was still able to get some recording done and set up more things for today. It's gonna be a stormy one they say but hopefully will not affect any of the racing we have set for today. Keep your fingers crossed.

Now let's chat more about what we have that is new for today on the Audio Page starting with a pair of Modified drivers I chatted with this past weekend. Jeremy Smith tells me how his season is going at Thunder Mountain and how I can recognize him when I get to the hauler as well as how much fun he is having on the track and his team.

Mike Colsten tells me how he is feeling these days and how he is trying to adjust to a coil spring car.
In my latest Doug's Thoughts I recap our weekend racing at Albany Saratoga and Thunder Mountain.

I laid low on Sunday after a busy weekend and enjoyed sleeping late and being a litle lazy. I did get some work done and plan on loading up today but I was so beat after Friday and Saturday. We had a blast but it was rough.

I have a long list of folks to begin calling today and I hope I can take a big bite out of that list. We'll be back tomorrow with our weekly World of Outlaw Report with Tony and in the can I still have a few chats from our weekend.

Now let's chat more about what is on the Audio Page starting with a driver who is hoping to get things turned around here real soon. Keith Flach spoke about how some recent DNF's have hurt him at Albany Saratoga, describes how things have been going and looks ahead to a new addition to his family coming up in a few months.

Mike Colsten tells me how he is feeling these days after beating a huge medical issue a few years back, how he is trying to adjust to a coil spring car and how much he enjoyed his trip to Italy & France. We'll keep you in our prayers still Mike!

New on the Audio Page from Thunder Mountain Speedway:

Matt Meade won the Limited Sportsman feature race and told me how he came from fourth to first.
Bailey Boyd finished first in the 600 cc Modified race and told me about his three years as a driver.
Eric Rowley talked about his win in his 4 Cylinder and why his second win this year was so special.
Scott Gauthier won his fourth in a row with the Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour and spoke about his nite.
Kristen Chamberlain told me how she was doing after a very bad flip in the 600 cc Modified feature.
Mike Bowman won his third race of the season on the mountain and told me about the lines he ran.
Bob Johnson spoke about his Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour win and remembered his last race there.

The Elkins family had a fun night as we headed south to Thunder Mountain Speedway in Center Lisle, New York. The ride took just over an hour so it was a piece of cake after the three hour ride to Malta the night before. And with the entire family together we took our time, stayed until the last lap was turned and had a great time.

I did my usual role with the Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour as I announce in the tower and help out with pre-race stuff to make sure the track knows what we're doing and visa versa. It's fun because I know most of the people at these tracks anyway and the ones I don't know I meet and get to know over the course of the night. It's fun to put my experience in race nights to work as I sometimes forget how many races I have been a part of in verious ways and the ways that knowledge can help things along today. Yeah, my odometer has surely been around a few times.

Thunder Mountain is an interesting place as they have a ton of cars, a very dedicated fan base and a track that looks like it's slick and dusty but actually holds bite extremely well. Every dirt track has something that makes it unique and as I race with my daughter Allie and talk deeper with everyone about what's taking place on these race nights I learn so much. My learning curve is heading upwards very quickly as is Allie's. What a fun summer we are having as we learn, learn, learn about the sport we love, love, love so much.

Speaking of Allie, she was 5th out of 6 cars in her heat but went from tenth to fifth in the feature. I think the track was a little too technical for her as she said she thought she lost if three different times but she did well chopping the field in half as I always say. If you listen to Mike Bowman's interveiw with me you'll hear him talk about what it's like at Thunder Mountain and you can see (and hear) why experience matters so much at this track.

I'll be back tomorrow and would like to write more but I am spent as I sit here typing at 2:30 in the morning. I'll get into the studio later today after some much needed relaxation and I did save some good stuff from the weekend. Thanks to everyone at Thunder Mountain for their hospitality and we hope to see you all again soon.
