New on the Audio Page for today:

Elmo Reckner talks about his plans for 2017 and the newer car he is hoping to race more.
Ernie Saxton talks about this weekend in Daytona, Atlantic City and NASCAR’s new race format.

It is going to be a fun weekend for sure. Indoor racing in Atlantic City and the first big national race of the year, the Rolex 24 takes place in Daytona. I’ll be glued to the TV all weekend long as this 24 hour road race is one of my favorite events.

And with Jeff Gordon added to the mix ticket sales are up for the Rolex 24 and the infield is sold out for the first time in many years. How much did that do for ticket sales? Probably a lot. It will be fun to see how he does in just his second Rolex 24 start. Nice to be retired huh?

Today I will be back in the studio and have a few things already on tap. And I am hoping to get a lot done in the next few days as the start of racing in our area gets closer and closer.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page as we look ahead to racing here in the northeast. Elmo Reckner talks about his plans for 2017, the newer car he is hoping to race more after just a few races with it last year and why he may be hitting the road a little more.

Ernie Saxton talks about this weekend’s Rolex 24 in Daytona, the Gambler’s Classic in Atlantic City and NASCAR’s new race format for the 2017 season.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Bobby Trapper explains why he did not race mush last year and his hopes to do more in 2017.
Lisa Williams runs down how she did in the Open Sportsman class and a scary crash she was in.

We are halfway through the work week as we get closer to the start of racing across this great country of ours. They are racing indoors this weekend in Atlantic City and of course the Rolex 24 is this weekend in Daytona. We’re almost there guys so be patient and before you know it we’ll have more racing going on that you could ever follow.

I am back at it again after a day off on Tuesday so I will be back in the studio and back writing again for tomorrow Syracuse Post Standard and Syracuse.com. I am excited about this weekend and always watch as much from Daytona as possible. That track is on several video games and I know it well which makes the race that much more fun to watch.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you today on the Audio Page starting with a man who can’t wait to get back to the track more this year. Bobby Trapper explains why he did not race mush last year, what they have to do to get ready to hit the track again and his hopes to do more racing with his son in 2017. He also wanted to give a special shout out to Jason Orlando for all his help!

Lisa Williams runs down how she did in the Open Sportsman class in 2016, how she learned how to race at then I-88 Speedway and a scary crash she was in while trying to go under another car.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Dylan Cecce talks about his multi-win season, his new car and what he is doing in the off season.
Tony Veneziano reports on Sprint Car racing from Australia and gives us some Tony Stewart news.

It sounds like today could be an adventurous day! A classic Nor’ Easter is coming up the coast and should provide us with some ice and snow. My girls are hoping for a snow day and they did all the things you are supposed to do to ensure one. Wearing pajamas inside out and of course the cotton ball under the pillow. We’ll find out soon if they get their wish.

I know a lot of you having plowing businesses so I know a lot of you are excited to go out and make some money today. I know of several of you who had a rough year because of the lack of snow last year so let’s hope you can make some much needed racing or home money today.

I am off today as usual as I have bowling tonight as well as some online racing. It’s my standard Tuesday off and I am looking forward to getting back on the lanes and hopefully having a good night.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you on the Audio Page starting with a driver I have not chatted with in quite some time. Dylan Cecce talks about his multi-win season at multiple race tracks, the new car he will drive this coming season and what he is doing in the off season to stay sharp.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Shane Pecore talks about his three championships in 2016 and his plans for the coming season.
Jim Olin previews Finger Lakes Speed World March 4-5 and this year’s theme Focus on Racing.

We start another work week today and I hope you all had a nice weekend and were able to get out and enjoy the spring like weather we had on Sunday. Enjoy it while you can as they say a big change is coming and soon.

I got some work done on Sunday as I watched football here in the home studio. How about those Falcons huh? I did not see that coming. As I write this up the Steelers/Patriots game is about to start.

I have some extra work to do today as I could not get ahold of as many people as usual with the games running late so I have lots to do today but already have a few things set up. If you’d like to join our conversation, just send me a message at doug@dougsdirtdiary.com.

Now let’s chat more about what we have on the Audio Page with a driver who enjoyed a great season in 2016. Shane Pecore talks about his three championships in 2016, his plans for the coming season and his race business that helps drivers who are new to the sport.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Dave Marcuccilli talks about his championship season and having discussions with other drivers.
Joe Garafolo recapped his rough year with a Mod Lite and talks about fuel injection versus carbs.

I had a good day on Saturday and did not have to make a ton of phone calls to get interviews. It was just one of those days when everything seemed to go right. Doesn’t always work like that.

I have another track champion up today as well as another racer who is hoping to get back to victory lane in 2017 after a tough season in 2016. That’s just the way it goes sometimes and hopefully it goes better as it is so much work just to get to the track to have things go badly is cruel. Yep, this can be a cruel sport at times.

I will be back at it again today and as usual I hope to get a lot done today. I’ll be in the studio in the afternoon and early evening as is my standard operating procedure on Sundays and if you want me to track down someone just say the word and I’ll do my best.

Now let’s chat more about what we have on the Audio Page today as we get ready for a big football Sunday. Dave Marcuccilli talks about his championship season in 2016, how much his fellow competitors upped their game in 2016 and having discussions with other drivers when things go wrong.

Joe Garafolo recapped his rough year with a Mod Lite at Brewerton Speedway, talks about fuel injection versus carbs and the small bump his Oswego business had during Super DIRT Week.

Billy Pauch Jr. talks about his rides for 2017, his holiday with family and why he is not a Jr.
Stacy Jackson spoke with Steve Ovens about what he has coming up for the new season.

I don’t know how it happened but that was the quickest cold I ever had. At least I am hoping that is what it was. I felt a little off Tuesday, very off on Wednesday but on Thursday I bounced back. Everyone else in the house has been sick so I don’t know how or if I have dodged this thing yet. We’ll have to see I guess.

I got back in the studio and will be very busy in there today as I hope to get a little ahead now that I am feeling much better. Don’t forget Motorsports 2017 starts today in Oaks, Pennsylvania so I know a lot of you are going down there. Expect to see some news break at this show and we’ll do our best to try to relay some of what comes out next weekend in our conversations next week.
