New on the Audio Page for today:

Jessey Mueller talks about getting ready for his first races of the year in two weeks down in Florida.
Josh Reome tells me what it is like on the North Country right now and how his Sportsman looks.

It was a nice day here on Friday as the sun came out and warmed us up to the mid teens by afternoon. It might not sound that nice but after wind chills in the -20 to -30 range it felt downright balmy.

I spent the day in the studio and with family as I am trying to get ahead with a big football game on Sunday. I did get to where I wanted to be and will be back in the studio today hoping to get more done before the SU game at 6 p.m.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you today on the Audio Page starting with a man who will be racing real soon. Jessey Mueller talks about getting ready for his first races of the year in two weeks down in Florida, describes what he is bringing to Volusia and what it was like to win in his third year on dirt.

Josh Reome tells me what it is like on the North Country right now after a serious lake effect snow storm, how his Sportsman looks right now and how tough a season it was for him in 2018.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Lance Willix describes what it is like for plow drivers in The North Country in heavy lake effect snow.
Marc Mintuolo reminds us about his Race Party taking place tomorrow at 6 pm at the Newark VFW.

What a day it was on Thursday! I saw some of the video from up north as route 81 became a parking lot due to the heavy lake effect snow. And then throw in below zero temperatures and wind and you’ve got a real problem. We’re thinking about all of you and hoping the snow lets up and you can dig out. Thoughts and prayers to all of you.

I also thought about the truck drivers as I visited our local Wegmans on Thursday night. There were some areas where product was missing and I know the weather has everything to do with that. Imagine what it must be like being stuck in the snow in your truck. I’m sure a lot of those drivers would give anything right now for a hot shower and a hot plate of food. Wishing all of you all the best too.

Feeling fortunate down here for so many things and looking forward to what it gonna be a season like no other for me and my whole family. I can’t wait to get going and see where the next chapter of our lives takes us. It is sure to be a ride like no other.

Now let’s chat more about what is on the Audio Page starting with a report from behind the wheel of the plow in a big lake effect snowstorm from a driver we know well. Lance Willix describes what it is like for plow drivers in The North Country in heavy lake effect snow, walks me through his Thursday shift and explains why he has not been able to get much done in his race shop. We wish all of you in this snow band all the best!

Marc Mintuolo reminds us about his Race Party taking place this Saturday at 6 pm at the Newark VFW, talks about some of the preparations and some work being done to his two racecars.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Andrew Smith talks about getting his Sportsman ready to race next week at North Florida Speedway.
Brian Mady tells me about his race hopes for next week in Florida and some upgrades he is making.

It is gonna be a cold one today for sure so stay warm and inside and catch up on some audio here. My kids are already planning on a snow day so we’ll see if they get that or not. And I know some of you are getting wicked snow right now so we hope you all stay safe and warm on this very cold Thursday.

We also had a nice talk with Allie’s car owner Derrick Flynn and it turns out all three of us have a lot in common and will have lots to talk about. Her car is going to be a vintage Modified with a 1972 Dodge Challenger body on it. And since it is an early 70’s Mopar it will have the period correct loud paint job. We can’t wait to see it and are so excited!

Now let’s chat more about what is new for today on the Audio Page featuring a pair of Sportsman drivers heading to Florida next week. Andrew Smith talks about getting his Sportsman ready to race next week at North Florida Speedway, how this event came to be and his plans to travel more in 2019.

Brian Mady tells me about his race hopes for next week at North Florida Speedway, some upgrades he is considering on his Sportsman and why he and his brother don’t share cars.

Mike Kaslouskas talks about what he did last year to learn what his Pro Stock wanted handling wise.
Jeff Ciglich runs down the 17 race schedule for the Dirt Modified Nostalgia Tour here in 2019.

I had a great day on Tuesday as I got a lot done on something I had been putting off for quite some time. Now today it’s back to doing more of that and more in the studio as well as the can is empty. But we’ll fix that and get lots of work done today and still make sure we’re good for tomorrow.

I hope al of you are doing well as this cold snap here is really something. I wonder if the kids might get some delays this week as it is going to be pretty darned cold at the bus stop all week long. Wishing you guys all the best.

Now let’s chat more about what is new for today on the Audio Page starting with a man who got a lot faster as the season went on in 2018.    New on the Audio Page for today:

Jim LaRock talks about his season in a Modified at Outlaw Speedway and how that season ended.
Tony Veneziano reports on some early season Sprint Car racing and some news from the All Stars.

I had a very busy day on Monday as I had a lot of people to see in a short period of time. Best news is that we’re gonna be okay here and plans that we had in place before last week remain in place so things are not nearly as bad as they could have been.

I did get some work done and will be working today on a non-racing project as I clearly need more of those in my life. We’re going to keep going here and continue for quite some time as I move my priorities around a little. Family as always comes first and that does not change!

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you to listen to on the Audio Page starting with a man who got his racing career started the same year as I did. Jim LaRock talks about his season in a Modified at Outlaw Speedway, how last season ended on an important night and remembers his first season behind the wheel in 1990.

Tony Veneziano reports on some early season Sprint Car racing and some news from the All Stars as well as some hints that TSR may finally be switching to Ford engines in their Sprints.

New on the Audio Page for today:

Joe Marotta and I discuss the local paper’s decision to end local racing coverage and what it means.
Kenny Hammond tells me about his 2018 race season where he ran both Sportsman and Modified.

We’ll we’re back from our little trip underground and we’re back at it today. You guys know me, when I get bad news I dig in and go underground for a few days to think. I chat with people close to me and try to make sure I don’t make a rash decision. And I know that I often don’t think well in the days right after bad news so I just sat back, took it all in and now have a rough idea of what to do.

I got back in the studio on Sunday and had a nice chat with my good friend Joe Marotta, who’s knowledge and experience I always seek out when I am looking for a different perspective on things. Thanks Joe.

I’ll be alright but this latest news on Syracuse.com and the Syracuse Post Standard ending their local coverage is something that has happened in other areas and something that is quite problematic for the sport at the local level. And with big time racing also going through an adjustment period the sport is truly at a crossroads.

Keep in mind they are going the pay only route and with so much information online and free, myself included, why would someone pay just to read my two columns a week? I know right? They’re not! Case closed!

We’ll keep doing what we can and we’ll still do what we love to do even though most of the people we know and work with could care less about what we do on the weekends. I love it, I know you guys love it too but as to where the future could take us is still a big unknown.

Now let’s chat more about what we have for you today on the Audio Page for today as we get back on the horse and hopefully ride with our head high once again although that last part could take a while.  Joe Marotta and I discuss the local paper’s decision to end local racing coverage, wonder why it is that many people just do not see racing as a sport and why the sport has fallen off in overall numbers.

Kenny Hammond tells me about his 2018 race season where he ran both Sportsman and Modified, explained how a big late season win helped his bottom line and what he plans on for 2019.
